pictures from shan's wedding

Earlier this month we went to San Antonio for my friend Shannon's wedding, and we had so much fun. From the delicious bridal luncheon at Hotel Contessa to the Rehearsal Dinner at La Margarita (mmm, LOVE that place) to the beautiful ceremony at one of the incredibly historic Missions in San Antonio (Mission San Jose, I think) to the fabulous reception, the whole weekend was wonderful. I am finally putting the pictures on my computer. I didn't take nearly as many as I should have...I am trying to get better about that now that I have a blog to be accountable to :)

Evonne, Adria and I before the ceremony

Sean and I in front of the Mission

Some of my dearest friends and I at the reception... love them!

I can't wait to do it all over again at Evonne's wedding on February 28th! :)

Not much is going on around here today...Right now I'm just procrastinating on doing some reading for my teaching certification work. Yesterday I substitute taught 5th graders and actually enjoyed it. Big improvement from my 2-month long nightmare teaching 8th grade math in the slums of San Diego...so glad that's over. As far as my future permanent teaching job goes, the more I think about it, the more I want to teach 4th grade. I really like that age...they're still cute and funny, but they're more independent than the really young ones. But I would also be open to 3rd or 5th grade. Comments/Suggestions welcome. Anyway, I guess I better stop procrastinating and actually get some stuff done today. Have a blessed day! :)

something new

Hello blogging world! I've been toying with the idea of starting one of these for awhile but just never have taken that first step until now. I have to give my fabulous friend Adria the credit - she gave me the little push I needed :). Anyway, I figure it will be a good way to chronicle the happenings in my crazy life...which I suppose is about to calm down a bit over the next few months after we journey from Navy life in San Diego back to civilian life in Texas...guess I should have started sooner! Well better late than never right?...I guess that should be my motto (anyone who knows me probably knows why)!

Well tonight was pretty uneventful...Sean and I stayed home and ate dinner and watched "Made of Honor" (which was a typical chick flick - totally predictable but still fun to watch)...he's quite a trooper to watch these movies with me without complaint. (Although I think sometimes guys secretly like chick flicks too!) Anyway, then I started looking around our house and couldn't believe that we scheduled our move today. That's right, we're making the move back to good ol' TX much sooner than expected....or I am at least. The movers are coming at the end of February to pack us up and take everything to short-term storage (until we actually know where in TX we're moving to... gotta love being in limbo). Lexi (my darling yellow lab daughter) and I will then be going back to Texas to stay with my parents for a couple weeks. Sean will have to stay here a little longer to finish up his time in the Navy. What brought about this sudden change, you ask? Well our lease on our house ends at the end of February, and we were supposed to go month-to-month for a couple months after that. Well we got a call from our landlord a week or so ago saying he has to sell the house. At first we thought...hmmm, slow market these days, we can probably stay here for a couple more months before it sells, right? Wrong. The place has been listed for all of 3 days and there has already been an offer and 4 appointments scheduled for people to come look at the place.

So, as hard as it is to believe, our time in San Diego (and the Navy) is quickly coming to an end. It has been quite a ride. I won't get too sentimental yet - we do still have about a month here in the house and then I will be coming back to SD to visit Sean (who will be staying on the ship for most of the time, except when I come of course) for at least a week or 2 in March. But still it's just a lot to think about....closing a chapter in my life and moving on to the next. Life seems to be flying by faster and faster lately and it doesn't look like it's going to slow down. I have been kind of freaking out lately about getting older...I don't want to....I like this age....I want to stay. Quarter-life crisis? Perhaps. But I really can't complain, God is good to me, I'm so blessed with such a wonderful family and friends to grow old with. Speaking of, I suppose I better go get in bed, the hubby is probably wondering what the heck I'm doing...either that or he's sound asleep...my guess is the latter. :) Sweet dreams to all.
